Wednesday Writer Roundup: Personal Finance, Travel, Science, and Health & Wellness writers
Sam Stalder
Hi, I’m Sam, a travel, outdoor lifestyle, and science content writer based out of North Carolina. My path to writing has been an uncommon one. In college, between taking time off to backpack around New Zealand and working full-time as a snowboard instructor, I managed to earn a degree in wildlife biology. This led me to work as a fisheries biologist, then an aquarium designer, and most recently, a chemist. Through all these endeavors, I learned that my passion wasn’t just in working in all these fields; it was sharing the knowledge I’ve earned along the way.
Whether it was explaining to a fisherman where to look to land that huge trout they’ve been after, explaining to an aquarium client how to grow the best coral, or even just helping a coworker have a great first experience snowboarding, gaining and sharing knowledge was where I really found joy. So writing seemed like the most obvious outlet for that, and I would love to help you share your knowledge with your readers or share some of my own. If you would like more information about what I can do, you can find it on my nDash profile or Sam Stalder: Freelance Content Writer; Outdoor Lifestyle and Science.
Dianté Gibbs
My name is Dianté Gibbs. I’m a digital content producer for a local news station with a passion for storytelling, whether it be through articles or content presented in other formats. I am based in the Charleston area of South Carolina, and outside of news writing, I love writing about minority matters, including the LGBTQ community and racial relations, in addition to mental health subjects, gaming news and culture, infrastructure, and technology.
There’s no better feeling than writing a story and seeing it come to life through the use of digital platforms that measure KPIs. I can be found on Twitter: @1ProducerDee.
Laura DeCesare
It’s great to be here on nDash! I started freelance writing in 2011 and never looked back. More than 10 years later, I’m a full-time content writer and copywriter. In the content arena, I write blog posts, long-form articles, white papers, and case studies. I’ve also written copy for web pages, product description pages, and buying guides.
I’ve written for brands like Martindale-Avvo, Constant Contact, and edX, plus many more I can’t mention because of ghostwriting agreements. My primary niches are online education, career development, and digital marketing. I also enjoy writing for the pet care, mental health, and personal finance industries.
I’m currently training through American Writers and Artists International to expand my copy chops. Next up, PPC ads and direct response emails!
Ruth White
I write to support people in living healthier, happier, and more connected lives. With a Ph.D. in social welfare, master’s degrees in public health and social work, and 20+ years as an academic, consultant, and freelance writer, I write data-driven, engaging pieces on health and wellness, with a focus on the intersection of diversity, equity & inclusion. I have spoken at conferences around the globe and authored popular books in the mental health space – 2 on bipolar disorder and 2 on stress management. This has made me a sought-after writer on mental health, publishing in outlets such as Thrive Global, Fast Company, Harvard Business Review, and Modern Healthcare, with blogs on Psychology Today, Medium, and Blogspot.
My reputation as a subject matter expert has also led to appearances on national TV, such as The Today Show, and as a regular mental health commentator for KRON4 TV Bay Area. I have also collaborated as a consultant and speaker with Fortune 500 companies such as PwC, JP Morgan Chase, Applied Materials, and Blue Shield, and with nonprofits and government agencies of all sizes, such as the National Organization on Disability, the International Bipolar Foundation and the LA County Department of Mental Health.
